Delta-Therm snow melt mats are a low cost alternative to MI snow melting assemblies. Designed for commercial and residential installations in either concrete or asphalt, the mats arrive on-site ready to install. They are typically installed in sidewalks, driveways, ramps, and/or steps; in new construction or repaving applications.

Snow melt mats are controlled by one of Delta-Therm's automatic melting controls. The mats are constructed of silicone jacketed (SJ) cable attached to a high density polyethylene substrate.

SJ cable is attached to a mat substrate. The SJ cable consists of a high-tensile strength stranded alloy conductor wrapped with 4 mil Kapton. The conductor is encased in silicone rubber rated at 150C. An aluminum braid, equivalent to 16 AWG, is woven over the primary insulation to serve as a ground path. Another layer of silicone rubber is extruded over the aluminum braid to provide additional electrical insulation. Nominal watt density is 50 watts per square foot.
