Silicone Jacketed (SJ) cable is specified for commercial and residential floor warming (warming a tile, marble, or stone covering) and underfloor radiant space heating applications (sole source of room heat).

SJ cables consist of a high-tensile strength stranded alloy conductor wrapped with 4 mil Kapton. The conductor is encased in silicone rubber rated at 150C. An aluminum braid, equivalent to 16 AWG is woven over the primary insulation to serve as a ground path. Another layer of silicone rubber is extruded over the aluminum braid to provide additional electrical insulation.

SJ cables are factory terminated and arrive on-site ready-to-install. The cables can be installed in light-weight concrete, self-leveling compound, or thin-set and under most floor coverings. 120 and 240 VAC cables are inventoried and usually ship same day as ordered. 208 and 277 VAC cables are special order items.
